Maximum Inc. Nor’Easter Wind Meter
The Nor’Easter instrument was designed to be an affordable means for anyone interested in the wind to measure and record its speed. The Nor’Easter wind meter is housed in a very attractive woodblock, but it will also work loose inside so you can mount it on the outside of your building if you prefer.
The Nor’Easter houses an electronic 2-digit Spud Inc. display capable of measuring wind speeds up to 200 mph. We highly recommend that customers calibrate their instrument prior to use, or prior to each use should they wish to maintain accuracy.
The Nor'Easter windmeter was invented by Gary Setters of East Falmouth, MA. He was playing with an electronic circuit when it occurred to him that if this meter were combined with the woodsman's ball-peen hammer, he could create an attractive product for displaying wind speed.
Gary set out to build his prototype and the finished product measures 6" x 4" x 1.5". It can be powered by a single 9 Volt battery or you can plug it into a standard 120 VAC household current.
The electronic circuitry is housed in a block of solid mahogany or oak that will blend in with almost any decor. With dual suction cups, the instrument can be securely mounted to a surface.
The Nor'Easter is an attractive display of wind speed in the home, garage, shop, office, school, airport tower...wherever wind speed might be of interest. The woodblock has two key holes at the top for easy mounting on a wall or pedestal. This is an accurate instrument, suited for sailing or any other application where measurement of high wind speeds is necessary.
