Downeaster Tide Clock, 'The Wave'
In the Cape Cod region of New England, tide clocks have been used for centuries to predict tides along the shores. This new tide clock concept from the mind of wind and weather artist Joe DeCrescente is a far cry from those original devices.
In 'The Wave' a single magnet moves a disc that rotates in proportion to the moon's gravitational pull on the Earth's oceans, simulating two high and two low tides every day. Flip the switch, and watch as 'The Wave' pulses back and forth to show you the tides. The center disc turns to simulate the ocean's tides at a rate equivalent to one lunar second per pulse. Hand-turned screws simulate the natural ebb and flow of ocean tides.
Nautically elegant yet practical, our 8" brass tide clock perfectly captures the cycle of the tides. A must-have for all fishermen, boaters, and nature lovers! Operates on a single AA battery.
Optional Brushed Nickel Case $10.00 additional.
