The Downeaster Fishing Barometer- "Freshwater Series", 3063
This highly polished brass barometer can be mounted directly to the wall, on a wood panel, or on a mantle stand. It's thought that fish are more likely to bite on a moving barometer - when the barometric pressure is either rising or falling the fish are more apt to bite! For use at altitudes up to 3,000 ft.
This self-registering barometer is used to indicate atmospheric pressure. With each atmospheric change the needle of the barometer rises or falls.
During time of storms, hurricanes, or other strong weather conditions, there is a rise in pressure. The rise in barometric pressure indicates to the fisherman that it may be time to go fishing.
Increases in pressure are registered at the bottom of the dial by arrows pointing up - indicating higher pressure.
The opposite is true for decreases in barometric pressure - arrows point down - indicating lower pressures. Thus, fish are more likely to bite when you have a moving meter !
Optional Brushed Nickel Case $10.00 additional.
