The Weather Scientific Tide Clocks Guide

A typical tide clock is large enough to see easily, an it will undoubtedly be the subject of conversation at your home. A subject that will incite curiosity in all those who see it. The Tide Clock offers them a new way to appreciate the sea's rhythm. The tide clock is a decorative and very accurate tool that indicates the times of the high and low tides.

HOW TIDE CLOCKS WORK

They will enable you easily and very precisely to schedule your sailing and diving sessions, and will also help you against any tidal surprises. Tide clocks are beautiful scientific gadgets which are not only useful, they are also fascinating for everyone.

Tide clocks tells the time, the lunar phases, the date, the tides of the day. It makes use of special pneumatic valves that are activated by air pressure, seated in small bubbles of air contained in capsules containing water or mercury.

Tide clocks were the first clocks that may be used daily, even on a permanent basis. Its purpose is to tell accurately the time by indicating the moon phase, the tide height and at the same time, harmonize with its owner’s home. To do so, it has 3 displays : The hours are displayed with Roman numerals. The minutes are indicated by small roman numerals displayed below the hours. And finally, the tide level is indicated by lines resulting from a cross hatched scale displayed on top of the clock.

Tide Clock is here to help you manage your water time, and it does so simply and beautifully.

Background of Traditional mechanical tide clocks

Tide Clocks were designed to be used in conjunction with a current Moon pad to give information about both high and low tides at any given time. The tide clock dial has two sides, one for high tide and one for low tide. The hand on the clock face points to the hours until the high or low tide. Turning the Tide Clock over shows you the number of hours "until" the (lunar) high or low tide."

The tide clocks dial is essentially a two-sided clock, but only one side can be read at a time. One side of the dial is for the hours until high tide; the other side of the clock is for the hours until low tide. At six o'clock (low tide) and twelve (high tide) the hands do not move.

When the tide clocks hand points to 5 hours, high tide is 5 hours away.

Tide Clocks are an accurate way to read both high and low tides for any location without having to look up tide tables. The tide clock uses large Roman numeral dials to display the correct time of high and low tides. It has a second hand so it can be used as a standard clock. A knob on the back may be adjusted to the current phase of the moon so the Tide Clocks will always show the correct tide time.

Tide Range

Some tide clocks count down the number of hours from high or low tide, as in "one hour past high or low tide". When the clock reaches the half way point ("half-tide"), it then counts the hours up to high tide or low tide, as in "one hour until high or low tide". Generally, there is an adjustment knob on the back on the instrument which may be used to set the tide using official tide tables for a specific location at either high or low tide.

Analog Tide Clocks

Analog tide clocks are often used in coastal regions, where tides can be seen in action. They are not suitable for use anywhere near the equator because the moon orbits the Earth in an east to west direction. The sun also orbits the Earth in an east to west direction, which means that at any given time of day, the sun is generally in the east, and so it will be behind any device with a dial-based face (such as an analog clock.) The result is that you cannot tell time unless you know what time it is, and since there are many regions north or south of the equator where

Digital Tide Clocks

The Digital Tide Clock utilizes digital wireless communication and advanced calculation technology to track tides throughout the Pacific Pacific and Atlantic. It is capable of working in numerous locations (across all regions and continents) and can detect the tides without any adjustments. With tidal information gathered from hundreds of tide stations around the world, you can get both current and future tide information, including tide height reading and moon phases obtained from the National Oceanic and Atmospheric Administration (NOAA). No longer will you miss your favorite beach or fishing spot. You can now track semi-diurnal, diurnal and mixed tides throughout North America accurately with out any adjustments required.

The Chrome Atlantis Time and Tide clock

The Chrome Atlantis Time and Tide clock indicates the position of the tide in relation to the current time. The red hand on the dial points to "high tide", "low tide", “after or before low", “after or before high", and "half tide.” The black hands indicate the current time. The components of this chrome time and tide clock are easy to access by unscrewing the bezel of the clock case, which is created from chrome-plated metal.
